CFD
Our expertise. CFD (Computational Fluid Dynamics) analysis of different dynamic fluid systems, in particular: single phase (gas or liquid) and multi-phase (gas and solid, gas and liquid) systems, for internal (bounded) and external flow motions.
The most efficient and up to date commercial codes are employed in order to provide the best performance in the shortest time and as economic as possible.
Applications. Applications are multiple, from aeronautics to medicine, from space to marine industry or automotive, from civil applications to food industry, etc.
Some practical examples of systems that can be analysed are listed below:

Our experience. iMEX.A was part of a partnership with Thales Alenia Space Italia within the 'STEPS' project, (funded by Regione Piemonte) aimed at developing new space technologies. In this framework, iMEX.A studied a cyclone dust separator for space applications by CFD analysis.
The main objective was to filter the air circulating in the ventilation system inside space modules where astronauts live and work, from dust that is brought inside during Extra Vehicular Activity (EVA). Due to the danger caused by dust, a new, more efficient filtering system when compared to the filters employed in the past manned space missions was and still is of primary importance for a space vehicle.
